HIGH TECH CHEATING IN SCHOOLS

⊆ March 22nd, 2010 by Kelly | ˜ No Comments »

Well it used to be Johnny taking a sneak peak at Suzie’s test from a few feet away, or maybe Jane writing answers on her hand to help her ace a final, but these days cheating has gone high-tech. With nearly every high school student carrying a cell phone, cheating is suddenly easier (hey, there’s an app for that).  But is cheating really more prevalent now than ever? And if so, why? I chatted this morning with a student and a teacher to find out. And don’t go getting any ideas from the stories our teacher had to tell about her students’ high-tech cheating!

It’s Spring Break week for a lot of people, and for some that means partying, drinking, drugs and casual sex. I chatted this morning with a couple of guys who do spring break a little differently, participating in “Beach Reach,” and outreach to spring breakers in South Padre Island, Texas and other spring break destinations in the US. Village of Hope

⊆ March 16th, 2010 by Kelly | ˜ Comments Off

The Village of Hope orphanage in Morocco has been providing abandoned children loving homes for more than a decade. Overseas workers with Village of Hope make lifetime commitments to raise Moroccan children as their own, loving and caring for them in family units. Last week, Moroccan authorities deported every foreign worker from the VOH with just a few hours warning, tearing 33 moroccan children away from the only parents they know. Authorities cited proselytizing as the reason for the expulsion from Morocco, but offered no further explanation.

I had a chance this morning to chat with Chris Broadbent, human resources manager for VOH, about the heartbreak these parents and their children are going through. Click below to hear what Chris had to say, and to find out how you can help:

You can find out more about the VOH situation in Morocco by visiting their website at www.voh-ainleuh.org. You can also visit www.savevillageofhope.com, follow saveVOH on Twitter, and become a fan of Save Village of Hope on Facebook.

Other ways to get involved:

  • Pray for the foster families to be reunited with the children in Morocco.
  • Pray for King Mohammed of Morocco to intercede in the matter.
  • Write Senator Nelson or other US Senators on the matter and encourage international pressure on Morocco.
  • Tell others the story via Facebook, Twitter.
